Constellations

I've always been intrigued by the stars.  From my Grandad teaching me to spot constellations like Cassiopeia, Orion and The Plough, I loved the idea that these tiny points of light, unimaginable distances away, created a constant picture in the night sky

For millennia, people have navigated using the stars, they are so dependable.  And yet the thing that makes sense of the constellation - the image that can be found in the pattern of stars - is the empty spaces in between.  It's a celestial dot-to-dot!

This notion, of way-points and meaningful patterns emerging from not just what is known, but from the gaps in between, was an epiphany to me as a coach.  Exploring what is unsaid and being curious about where the gaps in our awareness are, are often the catalyst for the most powerful epiphanies in a client.

But to get to those 'constellations' takes trust, and I'm hugely grateful for the trust placed in me and in the process by each of my coaching clients.  It's a leap of faith!  But to open up that map made of stars that can be used to navigate more confidently?  Totally worth it.

Yep.  I really love this metaphor…
